About Artist Nguyen Quoc Su
Born in 1942.
He began learning embroidery at the age of 13.
1959: He became a member of Hop Tien Embroidery Cooperative.
1968: He was elected to a member of the administrative section of the cooperative.
1972: He produced a masterpiece, “The President Ho Chi Minh’s House on Stilts”.
He was awarded the Lenin Medal at the International Olympic Fair in Moscow with this embroidery work.
1977: He was given the Approval Certificate from Prime Minister Pham Van Dong.
He also got the Certificate for Science of Technology Creative Youth.
1983: He was awarded the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Gold Medal and the Giang Vo Fair Gold Medal.
2000: Japan Broadcasting Agency (NHK) made a special documentary program of Su’s embroidery and his family as a new year’s program in Japan.
2008: He was invited to Takashimaya, a leading department store in Yokohama, Japan for his embroidery exhibition. |
